JAMESTOWN, NY (CCS-TV) — 160 athletes from five school districts and Erie-2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES, accompanied by their paraprofessionals and teachers, joined forces with 40 student athletes from Jamestown High School’s track and football teams to participate in a special event: Inaugural Winter Games.
The students from Jamestown High took on roles as station leaders and assistants, contributing to the event’s success.
The Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit Union, led by CEO John Felton, proudly served as the event’s signature sponsor. Additional support came from various sponsors and volunteers, including Teena Overbeck Chau, Jim Casini, Sgt. Dylan Anthony, and Sgt. Richard Langer from the Army National Guard Jamestown, as well as officers from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and the Jamestown Police Department.
Notable figures such as County Executive PJ Wendel, Mayor Kim Eklund, Christine McAllister from U.S. Rep. Nick Langworthy’s office, and Jamestown City Council members Brent Sheldon and William Reynolds were also in attendance to show their support.
Meanwhile, students from Maple Grove High School dedicated over three hours to capturing footage and conducting interviews, while Keith Martin and his team worked tirelessly to prepare the ice arena for the event.
